The WaterGeeks joined American Express and Turner Broadcasting as a national supporter of the 2009 Tap Project, the award winning, life-saving initiative that helps UNICEF provide clean water to children around the world.
From November 17, 2008, through to June 30, 2009, the WaterGeeks donated a minimum of 20% of the online retail price from the sales of six of our premium water products to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Designed with an eye to conservation and combating the global water crisis, the featured products included:
1) filtered sport water bottles
, 2) stainless steel water bottles
, 3) water saving shower head
, 4) water saving hose nozzle
, 5) dual spray swivel aerator
, and 6) an all natural liquid soap
In addition, WaterGeeks also donated $9 from each on-line sale of the FLOW DVD
, an award-winning documentary which investigates the world water crisis.
Clean, safe drinking water is essential to life but nearly 900 million people do not have access to clean water. In fact, the lack of clean water is the second largest killer of children under five. Every day, 4,200 children die of water-related diseases. But together, we can help. Just $1 can provide a child with safe drinking water for 40 days. About The WaterGeeks
The WaterGeeks mission is to empower today’s generation to reduce water consumption by producing simple, affordable and effective products that motivate and enable us all to conserve this critical resource without having to make major lifestyle changes. The WaterGeeks have incorporated the most current science and technology into a diverse range of water conservation products including filtered water bottles, water-saving shower heads and hose nozzles, water purifiers and all-natural health and beauty products. The WaterGeeks want consumers to understand the severity of our global water crisis, but also recognize the dramatic, positive impact upon their health and the health of our planet that can be realized through a few simple changes.
For more than 60 years, UNICEF has been the world’s leading international children's organization doing whatever it takes to provide lifesaving nutrition, clean water, education, protection and emergency response to children around the world. UNICEF calls for the day when the world can roll back the number of children dying from preventable causes from 26,000 to zero. That’s zero children killed by malaria and measles, poisoned by unclean water, lost for a lack of safe shelter, or fallen prey to malnutrition. As the organization that has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization, UNICEF is committed to doing whatever it takes until zero children die from preventable causes.
